Beijing - Although it has been turned into years, acts of self-immolation in Tibet still happened. For the first time in the year 2013, a man was killed during the action Tibetan self-immolation to protest the Chinese government.
The incident occurred in the Xiahe, Gansu Province, China or also called Sangchu region. The man surnamed Tsebe or Tseba is burned himself on Saturday (12/1) afternoon.
The incident is the first time this happened in 2013. The last time a similar incident occurred on December 9, 2012 last. This was conveyed humanitarian organization Free Tibet and Radio Free Asia (RFA) based in the United States (U.S.), as reported by Channel News Asia on Monday (14/01/2013).
According to Free Tibet, the victim's body had been brought home to her village which is about 4 kilometers from the scene. Estimated age of the victim is still quite young, between 19-20 years old.
RFA said, before burning himself, the victim called for the Dalai Lama allowed back into Tibet. Until now, the Dalai Lama was still in exile in the town of Dharamshala, India.
Against this incident, the police and local authorities are reluctant to respond.
Director of Free Tibet, Stephanie Brigden calling this latest self-immolation act even more shows that rejection of Tibetans against Chinese rule the longer, stronger. "The new government of China and the international community should not allow the demands of citizens to freedom continues to be ignored. Year 2013 must be the year in which the positive changes happening in Tibet," he added.
RFA noted, there are 96 Tibetans, mostly monks and monks, staged self-immolation protests against the government since China broke out in February 2009.
